Olympic Community of Schools

Olympic Community of Schools is one of 27 high schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) system. It joined the Coalition of Essential Schools in 2005 with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The concept was to divide the existing school, Olympic High, into five smaller theme-based schools. While sharing the same campus as the original high school, each of the new schools would have its own academic program independent of its campus neighbor.

The creative assignment was to rebrand the new entity as Olympic Community of Schools with each high school uniquely branded based on its academic theme. By creatively using common shapes, typography and graphic style, we were able to maintain a visual connection between the five schools, while providing each high school with its own brand identity.

In 2011, we were invited back to help brand the campus theme "Experience 21ED @ Olympic." This theme would be used on varying materials to help brand this project as an advanced move towards the future of education.
